What we did on our Summer vacation . . .

Well, we don’t actually get a summer vacation – this is our busiest time of the year. But, we do travel. One of our favorite out-of-town events is the Sequim Lavender Festival. http://www.lavenderfestival.com/ This year was fabulous; the weather was great (as it almost always is in Sequim), the crowds were strong, and it smelled so good!! It’s quite remarkable to see just how many things can be made from or with lavender! We tasted lavender brats, lavender ice cream, lavender tea, and lavender chocolate (my personal favorite). The best lavender product we’ve found is “Herbs for all Seasons” from Moosedreams Lavender Farms. http://moosedreamslavender.com/ We have seasoned everything from salmon to scrambled eggs with it. The ingredients include black pepper, fennel, lavender, lemon peel, orange peel, sea salt, garlic, onion, and basil. Sounds like an odd combination, but it is delicious!

Burt the Burger is eager for us to try it on our BBQ meats next.
Snooter-doots are well received, and recognized, in Sequim for their folk-art, whimsical personalities. We are very grateful that so many of our fantasy soft-sculpture critters find loving homes on the peninsula! What a great place for a felted doll to live! As we approach the ‘dog days of summer’ we’re looking forward to our next events. August will see Snooter-doots at the Proctor Art Fair in Tacoma, WA; the Westport Art Fair in Westport, WA (on the coast-our most favorite place to visit); and several Saturdays at the Redmond Saturday (farmers) Market, in, you guessed it, Redmond, WA. Did you know that the phrase ‘dog days of summer’ traditionally refers to the hottest, muggiest six weeks of summer? Folks here in the PNW know that our ‘dog days’ are usually a series afternoons with triple digit temperatures in August. So, here we go, August is upon us! Enjoy, and Happy Snooter’in! http://www.snooter-doots.com/
